2000년대 초까지 한국 스케잇보드 Scene에서 스케잇터, 포토그래퍼, 랩퍼 등등 다재다능한 재주로 많은 사람들을 즐겁게 해주었던 박찬주군을 주말 촬영Session에 오랜만에 만났다. 군대를 제대하고 생활전선에 뛰어든 지라 바쁘게 지내고 있느라 얼굴 볼 기회조차 없던 지라 그 동안의 근황을 물어보고 즐거운 시간을 보냈다. 지승호군과 조만간 한자리에 모여 한잔 할 그날을 기약하면서 영상을 올린다. 한편 이날은 오래간만에 발전기를 고친 기념으로 주말 야간촬영 모드에 돌입하였는데 모두들 근성있는 모습들을 보여주어 깊은 인상을 받았다. 밤이 늦도록 불을 환하게 밝히고 ‘길거리street’(김용민의 용어를 빌려온다. 용민이는 가끔 멋진 단어들을 조합하고 만들어내는 데에 일가견이 있는 것 같다. ‘길거리street’용어가 궁금하신 분들은 아래의 It’s been a long time, brotha!김용민편을 보시길.)의 최전선에 있는 이 기분이란…모르는 사람들은 절대 모를 것이다.

휴가를 기회삼아 마산 및 부산 투어를 다녀왔다. 마산에서는 Riderzshop 동환형님 집에서 머물며 그동안의 안부도 묻고 사는 얘기도 하면서 즐거운 시간을 보냈고, 부산에서는 때마침 해운대에서 대회가 있어 사직에서 종민이를 쉽게 만날 수 있었으며 성진이는 해운대에 가게를 열어 가족들과 함께 찾아가 그 동안 안부도 묻고 간단하게나마 촬영도 하고 돌아왔다. 특히 신종민은 오랜 기간 스케잇을 하지 않았음에도 불구하고 여전히 멋진 모습들을 보여주었다. 이날 성크, 진배 및 정혁이도 사직에 와서 스케잇도 하고 해운대 베스트트릭 대회에도 참여하였는데 곧 투어영상이 공개되지 않을까 싶다.

이날 Best Trick대회 준비과정을 계속 지켜보았는데 꽤 많은 서울친구들이 부산을 찾아주었다. 대회준비 및 기물셋팅이 얼마나 허술했든지간에 몸을 날려 갤러리들을 즐겁게 해준 많은 스케잇터들에게 수고했다는 말을 하고 싶다. 그리고 Daily Grind에 요새 펩시가 사진을 올리기 시작했던데 부산에서 보니 뭔가 Daily Grind와의 관계가 어색하면서도 돌파구를 찾는 펩슨의 모습이 엿보였다. 원석이랑은 다시 친해진건지? 세상 참 시간이 모든 것을 해결하는 것인가.

오랫동안 같이 스케잇을 해왔거나 스케잇 Scene을 이끌어 가던 멋있는 친구들을 만나 근황도 묻고 이런저런 얘기도 해보는 시간을 갖고 싶었는데 용민이가 판교로 이사를 오게 되어 기회가 많아질 듯 하다. 김용민, Four, 충한, 광민이와 야탑에서 잠깐 스케잇도 하고 이런저런 얘기도 나누고 간만에 즐거운 시간을 가졌다. 요새 제일 기대되는 이벤트로서 요새 한창 몸을 만들고 있는 슈퍼스타 auto technician 형수한테 고장난 발전기를 맞겼는데 다시 가동되면 발전기를 이용하여 불도 켜고 밝게 스케잇하는 시간을 가져야 겠다. 조만간 발전기가 고쳐지는 대로 촬영해 올려야 겠다.

?요새 회사에서 거의 하루도 빠지지 않고 들러주는 The Berrics(http://www.theberrics.com)에서 DVS주최로 ‘YOUnited Nations’이라는 비디오 클립 컨테스트를 개최하였다. 전 세계의 모든 스케잇 크루들이 참가 가능하며 4분이내의 클립에 10명 이상의 크루들이 참여해야 한다. 제출용 포맷은 DVD인 것 같고 YouTube같은 사이트에 이미 올라가 있는 클립은 제외된다. 이런 이벤트에 ‘한국의 스케잇 씬이 있으니 니들도?함 봐라’ 라고 알려주는 것도 재미있지 않을까 하는데 문제는 10명 이상이나 되는 크루들이 한국에 있는가 하는 점이다. 정말 열악한 조건이 아닐 수 없지만 요새 늘어난 수많은 비디오그래퍼들이나 고집센 스케잇터들이 서로 모여서 얘기해 본다면 한 번 해볼 수도 있지 않을까 싶다. 기한이 8월 21일까지이니까 1달도 남지 않았다.

본 이벤트 홍보 페이지(http://theberrics.com/YOUnitedNations.php)에 접속하면 Steve Berra의 Comment를 들어볼 수 있는데 요점인 즉슨 결국 크루들의 실력과 비디오 편집 등등 전반적으로 Skill적인 면도 매우 중요하지만 제일 중요한 것은 “Having Fun”이라는 것. Steve Berra도 이제 형님축에 끼는 인물이라 언행이 매우 공식적이고 교훈적으로 변해가고 있다는 느낌. 멋있는 마인드의 소유자이다. 실제 같이 지내보면 어떻게 변할지는 또 모르지만. 관심 있으신 분들은 이번 이벤트 한번 도전해 보시길.

오랜만에 성크와 진배가 분당에 skate하러 왔다며 연락이 왔길래 퇴근 후의 지친 심신과 주변의 잔소리를 뒤로하고 스팟으로 출동하였다. 오랜만에 카메라를 잡고 진배를 촬영했고 성크는 힘이 다 소진되어 다음 기회로 미루기로 했다. 나이가 먹고 시간이 갈 수록 라인 촬영은 체력의 한계를 느끼는 Session이었다.? 허나 보드에 올라가 있는 한 밤이건 낮이건 시간이 허락하는 한 촬영은 계속될 것이다.
